Immigration Law Firm in downtown Boston specializing in immigration law is seeking highly motivated and community-oriented individuals to join our team! Moreno Law is located in the heart of Boston, just steps away from the waterfront offering accessibility via public transportation. Moreno Law is highly involved in providing legal representation and services to the immigrant community not only through offering representation before the Immigration Court, DOS, DHS, USCIS and ICE agencies but also going out into the community to better serve the public. Full-Time Position: Immigration Paralegal

Hours:                       (30hours-40hours)

Location:                 Work on-site and remotely.

Start date:                ASAP

 

Please note: We are currently NOT accepting applicants who are enrolled in school. We are seeking a candidate who can commit to working full-time hours.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Extensive client contact: in person, via telephone, email, and mail.
  • Conducting research as needed to support asylum cases, waivers, and appeals.
  • Preparing USCIS submissions including employment application visas, waivers, adjustment of status applications, and family-based petitions.
  • Preparing briefs, motions and assisting in removal defense cases.
  • Drafting letters to clients, courts, agencies, and other legal offices.
  • Utilizing a client tracking system to input essential client information such as critical deadlines, important dates, and other relevant information as received.
  • Administrative tasks including but not limited to: court and agency filing, maintenance and organization of office files, mailing and tracking case submissions, communicating important information to other office staff.
  • Occasional community outreach events throughout the New England area where the firm provides gratuitous legal services and information on current law and policy relevant to the community. This is based on availability, and currently, we are conducting these outreach events remotely due to COVID-19.

 

Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will be extremely detail-oriented, self-motivated, and have strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Fluent Proficiency in English and Spanish required. Excellent communications skills in both languages.
  • Must have the ability to juggle numerous tasks such as answering the phone, greeting clients, and completing any daily assignments.
  • At least 2 years of experience in an immigration law firm required.
  • Due to the high-volume nature of the firm, excellent communication skills are essential for this role.
  • Experience writing asylum briefs either for Immigration Court/USCIS is a PLUS but not required
  • Excellent legal writing skills, the ideal candidate will be responsible for writing legal briefs, memorandums of law, and additional writing We may request a writing sample during your application process.

Preferred:

  • Additional Proficiency in Portuguese is a PLUS
  • A combination of family-based and business immigration, and family law experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certificate

Full-Time Position: Legal Receptionist  

Hours:                       (40hours)

Location:                 Work on-site

Start date:                ASAP

We are looking for a versatile legal receptionist to run our reception department. In this role, you will be required to welcome visitors, clients and answer calls. As a legal receptionist, your duties include scheduling appointments, handling inquiries, and managing mail and deliveries. You may also be required to assist with filing.

To ensure success as a legal receptionist, you should exhibit excellent communication skills and competency in general office administration. Outstanding legal receptionists are polished professionals who create a positive first impression.

Responsibilities:

  • Fluent Proficiency in English and Spanish required. Excellent communications skills in both languages.
  • Welcoming clients and visitors upon arrival at reception.
  • Answering, screening, and forwarding phone calls in a professional manner.
  • Assisting clients and visitors with the location of legal staff.
  • Scheduling and confirming appointments on the daily basis.
  • Observing business etiquette, and maintaining a professional appearance.
  • Directing the flow of mail, faxes, and deliveries to reach the intended recipients.
  • Ordering and replenishing office supplies.
  • Assisting with copying, scanning, faxing, emailing, and note-taking.
  • Preparing meeting facilities, and arranging refreshments, if required.
  • This position also includes assisting the firm’s managing attorney

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Formal qualification in office administration, secretarial work, or related training.
  • Qualification in paralegal studies or similar preferred.
  • Prior experience as a legal receptionist in an immigration law firm will be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with legal terms, legal documents, and filing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Extensive experience working with word processing, spreadsheets, printers, copiers, scanners, faxes, and appointment scheduling and call forwarding systems.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Additional Proficiency in Portuguese is a PLUS
  • A combination of family-based and business immigration, and family law experience.
