Janeth Moreno, Esq. LL.M., serves as the founder and managing attorney at Moreno Law. The firm provides comprehensive guidance in various areas, including deportation defense, family reunification, humanitarian visas, waivers, and naturalization.
Attorney Moreno, who is licensed to practice law in Mexico as well as the State of New York, was born in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico. She later relocated to Boston, Massachusetts, to pursue her legal studies, culminating in the completion of the LL.M. (Master of Laws) program at Suffolk University Law School. She holds memberships in esteemed legal associations, including the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), the New York State Bar Association, the Boston Bar Association (BBA), and she served as the president of the Massachusetts Association of Hispanics Attorneys (MAHA). Additionally, she is affiliated with the United Nations Association of New York (UNA). Additionally, she was appointed in 2021 by U.S. Senators Edward J. Markey (D-MA) and Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) to join the bipartisan Advisory Committee on Massachusetts Judicial Nominations where she served during that year; As a member of this committee Attorney Moreno helped to solicit, interview, and comment on applications for federal District Court vacancies.
With a wealth of experience in international law, refugee protection, human rights, and immigration law, Attorney Moreno demonstrates a keen interest in areas such as asylum representation, migration, global affairs, and gender equality. She participated as a delegate during the Commission on the status of Women 58th session at the United Nations Headquarters in New York in March 2014. She further engaged in the United Nations Global Affairs and Refugees’ Protection program organized by New York University at the Palais Des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, in June 2015.
Since 2015, Attorney Moreno has been appointed as the Immigration Attorney of the Consulate General of Mexico in Boston under the Legal Assistance for Mexican Nationals program. Additionally, she served as Of Counsel for the Consulate of Colombia in Boston from January 2019 until 2021. Notably, from 2020 to 2023, she partnered with the City of Somerville and the SOIA department to provide legal representation to residents.
Renowned for her expertise, Attorney Moreno is a sought-after speaker by various domestic and international organizations and academic institutions. She addresses topics encompassing immigration law, asylum in the U.S., human rights, and international law. Her insights have also been featured in media networks across the United States, Mexico, and Central America.
